Auto Check™

Accident Damage Reporting System

What is Auto Check™

Auto Check™ is an online database containing information about accident damaged, insurance “total loss”, branded and stolen vehicles. It was developed in 1995 by the Used Car Dealers Association of Ontario, exclusively for members.

It’s a fact of life that accidents happen. Unfortunately, damaged and repaired vehicles are sometimes traded-in or sold to a dealer without disclosure of the past damage. Obviously, without knowing this information, the dealer can’t tell the next purchaser.

UCDA members can reduce the risk of this happening by searching vehicles through Auto Check™.  In seconds, a UCDA member can determine valuable information about a vehicle before buying it.

Features

Since 1995 the UCDA has made numerous improvements to information, accessed additional databases, and improved delivery to members.

Today, Auto Check™ contains make, model and year of manufacture as well as 5 different vehicle searches:

  1. Kwik Check - Identifies branded vehicles currently on file with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. A vehicle can be branded Irreparable, Salvage or Rebuilt.
  2. CPIC - Searches the Canadian Police Information Centre database for stolen vehicles.
  3. Total Loss Data - Total Loss information is obtained from the insurance industry’s total loss evaluation system to determine if a vehicle should be written off.
  4. Non-Total Loss Data - Non-Total loss data is obtained from the insurance industry’s accident damage estimating system that determines how much it’s going to cost to repair the vehicle.
  5. Accident Data - This database is different from the Total Loss and Non-Total Loss systems and contains more general information regarding accident damage, theft, vandalism or third party claims reported to the insurance industry

More Useful Data

15 to 20% of vehicles searched through Auto Check have activity reported.

You want to know all you can BEFORE you buy.  Some U.S. databases only tell you about “total loss” vehicles. Auto Check™ tells you that, plus gives you much more valuable “accident” and claims data … the car may not be a “write off”, but you still want to know about the $6,500 in collision damage when the driver hit a deer!

Value Added

Auto Check™ gives UCDA members a distinct advantage over non-members because their customers can buy with more confidence that the vehicle has not suffered major damage in the past.

The UCDA is also the only search facility that offers its Members access to 2 lawyers, experienced in this industry, to get you out of muddles when they arise, or answer questions about your searches that no one else can.
